Portrait commissions

While I paint portraits of all kinds of people, commissioning portraiture is a long and wonderful traditional within many rowing clubs - and one that I hope long continues! Modern portraiture still offers something that photography can't - a timeless commemoration of extraordinary character.

I am available for a limited number of portrait commissions each year - including for rowing clubs who wish to commemorate captains, presidents as well as their high achieving oarsmen and women.

I usually work from photos and ideally the first step is a photo session with the subject, but I can also work from existing photos. If you're interested in commissioning a portrait please do get in touch.

Portraits are typically made in oil and as such can take up to six months to completely dry. They can be delivered sooner depending on framing and other variables, so please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

I also undertake non-rowing-related portraits - in particular portraits of those off to university and recent graduates.

Send me an email or complete the form below to confirm availability and to start a conversation about your portrait commission.

While my portrait style is consistent, I will work with you to ensure it fits within the context in which you plan to hang the final painting. I can adapt the colour palette in particular to suit the situation and your preferences - to produce a more modern or more traditional effect.
